After several years of successful teaching, home repairs and community service around the subject of childhood lead poisoning, the Get the Lead Out! collaborative was ready for the next step. Having moved into non-profit status and increasing its scope the team was ready to plan for the next phase.

The problem? The task of educating a community is daunting. Strides had been made, but a plateau had been reached.

The opportunity? Refresh the team, motivate others to join in, continue the existing tasks, but add more work to this already busy group of volunteers.

We created a one day strategy session using creative visioning techniques and multiple strategy development frameworks. To keep the group energized we worked in various groups, rotated work, and collaborated throughout the process.

The group was exhausted at the end of the day, but filled with a sense of accomplishment.

After the session the worksheets were synthesized and strategies refined and organized. Their strategies are ambitious…and the work they do is amazing.

I wonder how many lives they will save this year.
