Green by Design 2003 - Environmental Symposium |
What do a philanthropist, a college and a manufacturing company have in common? The desire to promote environmental sustainability. The best way to do this? Bring together renowned experts for a two-day educational symposium that offered an instructional design framework, business strategies, practical experience and networking. Funded by a generous grant by the Wege Foundation, supported by the Grand Rapids Community College and hosted by Steelcase Inc., approximately 300 people gathered to hear such notables as William McDonough, Jacquie Ottman and Stuart Hart, PhD. educate attendees on the business of environmental consciousness.
The task? Gather together these great thinkers and doers and facilitate their collaboration to create a cohesive educational forum. Put on a "green" conference that illustrated sensitivity to our environment in all areas from food preparation and serving to transportation and materials provided. The result?
A resounding, "when is the next one?"
"We did it in September 2005".
